Tooth Extraction: The Truth About Pain, Healing and Recovery
Is tooth extraction painful?
During the procedure, the area is numbed, so you’ll feel pressure but not sharp pain.
Afterwards, some discomfort is normal, but most patients manage it well with standard pain relief.

Why is day 2–3 sometimes worse?
Healing follows a natural pattern. Around day 2 to 3, inflammation peaks, which can make it feel worse before it improves.
This is normal and usually settles after that.
Are some teeth harder to remove?
Yes:
* Front teeth are usually simpler
* Back teeth and wisdom teeth can be more complex
* Broken or infected teeth may take longer
What helps healing?
* Keeping the area clean
* Avoiding smoking
* Following instructions closely
